Description

The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission seeks an energetic/enthusiastic person to work as an Intake Consultant (Saskatoon).  

The Person: The successful candidate will respond to inquiries and complaints of discrimination as required by The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code. Superior analytical abilities will allow you to:
- assess the information
- advise clients about the complaint process, and
- make initial determinations on whether a human rights violation may have occurred

Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to inform clients, gather relevant information and refer individuals in a prompt, tactful, effective and unbiased manner.

Your background in conflict resolution will facilitate informal dispute resolution.  Excellent writing skills will assure accurate and detailed notes, well drafted complaint forms, agreements and other written documents as required.

The successful candidate will have completed a post-secondary degree in journalism, communications, human justice, social work, human resources, or another relevant discipline. Basic knowledge of human rights legislation and issues related to discrimination is a must, as is experience working with legislation, and with individuals in conflict. A demonstrated knowledge of the underlying principles for problem solving based on restorative justice concepts is required.

Description

The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission is seeking an organized and reliable professional Legal Assistant for the Commission.

Reporting to the Commission Assistant, the Legal Assistant will provide high quality and efficient legal support to the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commissions team of lawyers, paralegals and mediators.  Such duties will include the composition of correspondence, memoranda and legal documentation. The successful candidate must be familiar with the Court of Queens Bench Rules of Court of Saskatchewan and the procedures for preparing files for hearing including the assembly of casebooks, trial books, subpoenas and the filing of court documentation.

The candidate of choice should hold Grade 12 plus a Legal Secretarial Diploma and/or 5-years minimum experience as a legal secretary. Experience with office organizational principles and systems and advanced computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office is essential. Data entry with accuracy and attention to detail are essential for this position. Your excellent communication skills will allow you to listen, accurately comprehend and orally respond to inquiries from the public, other agencies, staff, and ministries. You will be able to organize and prioritize a high volume of projects, consistently produce high quality work, and develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, clients and stakeholders.
