The Organization
The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission has a mandate to protect and promote human rights in Saskatchewan and work toward the elimination of discrimination.

The Position
The successful candidate will:

  • Provide legal opinions on policy, agreements, legislation and various areas of law including labour and employment, administrative, contractual relations, human rights, constitutional, and privacy
  • Conduct legal research
  • Conduct negotiations
  • Have carriage of motions before the Queen’s Bench
  • Assist in hearing preparation and may sit as second chair in a hearing before the Queen’s Bench

 

Essential Education, Skills, and Experience
The successful candidate will:

  • be energetic and confident with superior analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • demonstrate competence in dispute resolution skills including mediation and negotiation
  • have experience assessing risk, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of legal disputes
  • courtroom experience will be considered an asset
  • be qualified for membership in the Law Society of Saskatchewan, having a minimum of 5 years of experience in active legal practice, including collaborative resolution and human rights law, or equivalent
  • have a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code and Regulations, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, constitutional law, administrative law, labour law, and employment law

 

Compensation: The compensatory rate range for this position is $42.431 to $67.625 per hour, in addition to usual benefits.
