Her commitment to human rights and advocacy for social justice have helped make our communities and the province in general a better place to live.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gitlin was appointed to the Commission in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>As a Saskatchewan Human Rights Commissioner, Gitlin played an instrumental role in the formation of the Concentus Citizen Education Foundation \u2013 a citizenship education program designed to educate and empower individuals to understand their rights and to be responsible, respectful, participatory citizens committed to justice in our multicultural, pluralistic society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe success of the Commission during her tenure was in no small part due to her energy, dedication, and tenacity,\u201d said Wilcox. \u201cIn her resignation letter, Jan stated that after 12 years she believed it was time to move on.
