The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Barry Wilcox, Q.C., as its new Deputy Chief Commissioner. The Government of Saskatchewan made the 5-year term appointment on September 14, 2018 through an Order in Council.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr. Wilcox has been a Commissioner with the SHRC for the past seven years, and in that time has worked diligently to promote and protect human rights in this province,\u201d said Chief Commissioner David Arnot. \u201cI know that Barry\u2019s commitment to inclusion and his experience will enable him to excel in his new role as Deputy Chief Commissioner.\u201d<\/p>\n
Born and raised in Prince Albert, Mr. Wilcox as spent his entire career in the city. He is a senior member of Prince Albert\u2019s legal community and is a partner with Novus Law Group (Wilcox Holash McCullagh). A longstanding and respected member of the Prince Albert bar, Barry possesses expertise in mediation and alternative dispute resolution and as well has appeared before all three Saskatchewan Courts, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada and numerous tribunals.<\/p>\n
Barry began serving as Commissioner with the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission in June 2011. He replaces Paul Favel J, following his judicial appointment to the Federal Court in Ottawa.<\/p>\n
